At that point, not eating the sour cream wasn't going to bring back the cow.  IMHO, the real decision was whether to continue supporting a business that continues to feed you animal products despite your requests, because that's where you can make a difference.  I know there are others who disagree, as you said. 

My logic would mean you could have eaten it even if there was meat in it, but let's face it, that's gross.


LOL. You're right Skye, that's totally gross.

You remind me of my original vegetarian manifesto...which was that every dollar you spend is your economic vote, and I didn't want to vote for inherently cruel industries.

So you make a good point that in not going back to this restaurant I am economically voting for other places that take my requests more seriously.
