Hoping for both, we boarded the 3,000-passenger MSC Poesia for Holistic Holiday at Sea, an annual voyage that is a mind-body-spirit conference and retreat - the 2012 cruise featured 140 classes with 35 speakers, featuring big names in the field, including celebrity vegan chef Christina Pirello. The physical side is addressed by trainers, yoga and Pilates teachers, and experts in massage and qi gong. Holistic Holiday staff, rather than the cruise line, provide three specialized menus, the food and the chefs - not to mention six theme parties featuring macrobiotic fare, a concert and a talent show and (wait for it) vegan musicians.
I have never been on a cruise, and recent news stories have made it less appealing to me, but this kind of cruise intrigues me. If for no other reason than at least i'd know I'd be able to eat well (often a challenge at vacation destinations).
Have you been on a themed cruise/ A cruise in general? Can vegans eat?
