Here is a contrarian and cranky opinion piece on the question of what is green residential real estate http://tinyurl.com/24e84s

Another thought - some might argue that moving into a bigger dwelling is not green because the drive for Americans to upsize their homes is part of the problem. However, if you "rescue" a larger home from being torn down and replaced with new construction then perhaps it is green. Or, maybe the better green thing to do would be create more open space and put one of these homes on your patch of green: http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/home.htm

Tricky question, this one, but a good one to wrestle with.
