Blog in a Box:

For the beginning or prospective blogger, this session will cover all the basics. By the end of the session each attendee will have a blog with RSS feeds, a blog roll, and know how to add links, photos and other widgets to their blog. Basic html will be covered.

Primp Your Blog:

Learn the latest widgets, counters, mash-ups and cool tools to add to your blogs...and why you'd want to. Learn the value-add when you serve your own blog (and the down side.) Also, see a Screencasting demo from Jan Kabili (a method for adding computer demos w/voiceover to your blog.)

So you have this crazy idea:

You want to start a community-based blog site, but aren't sure where to start. This session will tell you how to examine what's already out there, define what you plan to do differently, and create a plan to develop content and promote your efforts.

Lunch Keynote: What's Next?: What's next in tech? Is "Web 2.0" hype? Or hip? And what's next once you grab your brass ring?
Marnie Webb is joined by Caterina Fake and Meg Hourihan, two leaders who can certainly speak to both questions!

Each topic runs 1 hour and repeats at 1 and 2:15

Audio:

Instructors will be on hand to serve all user levels. Beginners will create & post an audio entry. For advanced users, this session will include both hands-on instruction and interactive Q&A about best practices. [Equipment list will be provided.]

Digital Photography:

Heather Champ will get you comfortable with your digital camera. Learn not only how to take good digital pictures, but how to mess with them and post them on your blog. [Equipment list to be published.]


Audience Building:

Elise Bauer talks traffic: how to build it, how to understand your site statistics, how to optimize your site to build search engine traffic, how to use syndication and subscriptions to build recurring traffic...the works!

Syndication:

Blog syndication helps you manage information overload today and is the future of content distribution. Are you really leveraging this emerging technology the way you could?

Want to make your blog your own? DIY or pay? And what's reasonable in your time & your money? Plus, mir verburg walks you thru stylesheets (CSS) and how they work. Understand how to customize the look and feel of your blog in various blogging tools.

$$$ Generation:

By now there are so many ways to advertise and get affiliate $$ from your blog that it's hard to keep track. What's the difference between BlogAds and AdSense? LinkShare and Chitika? And does it really matter where you place the ads? [Hint: yes.]

Tagging, tracking & structured blogging:

Do taxonomies & folksonomies fill you with ennui? Marnie Webb will help you discover why you care and how to use it all to your advantage.
